Somatic Touch Work
A gentle, body-based pathway to safety, connection and nervous system repair.
“Touch comes before sight, before speech, it is the first language and the last and always tells the truth.” -Margaret Atwood
What is Somatic Touch?
Hands-on touch work sessions support the body’s innate capacity to regulate, release, and reconnect. This work draws from touch modalities developed by Peter A Levine, Kathy Kain, and Stephen Terrell (Somatic Experiencing®, Somatic Resilience & Regulation, Touch Skills Training, and Transforming the Experienced Based Brain) and is offered as part of Marisa’s somatic coaching practice through The Woven Path.
What happens in a session?
Co-Regulating Touch sessions take place fully clothed on a therapy table. With your consent, I use gentle, supportive contact, often at the kidney/adrenal area, brainstem, or joints to support regulation in the autonomic nervous system. These areas correspond with early patterns of safety, orienting and protection in the body.
Throughout the session, we move slowly and collaboratively. There may be moments of quiet, gentle tracking of sensation, or verbal reflection. Nothing is forced, everything is optional and all parts of you are welcome.
This work is especially supportive for those who:
Feel chronically dysregulated, anxious or shut down
Struggle with connection or trust
Want to deepen their relationship to their body and inner experience
Have done talk therapy and are ready to explore healing through the body
Why it Matters:
Our earliest patterns of connection live in the body. Gentle, co-regulating touch offers the possibility of new experiences of safety, trust and being seen - not through words but through presence.
This is not bodywork in the traditional sense - it’s not about fixing or releasing tissue. This is about restoring the body’s capacity to feel safe and supported.
Each 50 minute session is $200
