Frequently Asked Questions
What’s the difference between therapy and coaching?
Therapy often focuses on diagnosing and treating mental health conditions and is designed to address emotional wounds from the past. It usually involves exploring trauma, grief, anxiety, and depression through a clinical lens. Coaching, on the other hand, is a forward-focused, collaborative process that helps you create change, build resilience, and reconnect with your inner resources.
At The Woven Path, somatic coaching is not therapy, it’s a body-centered approach to growth, transformation, and embodiment for women who are ready to deepen their relationship with themselves.
What is Somatic Coaching?
Somatic coaching helps you reconnect with the wisdom of your body. "Soma" means "living body," and through somatic practices, we explore sensations, movement, breath, and presence to shift old patterns and cultivate new ways of being.
Rather than staying only in the mind, somatic coaching invites you to listen to your body’s messages, build a deeper sense of self-trust, and create change from the inside out. It's a gentle but powerful path for women who are ready to reclaim their voice, presence, and inner knowing.
Can I use my insurance?
Because somatic coaching is not therapy or medical treatment, it is not covered by insurance. All sessions are private pay.
Many clients find that investing in themselves in this way deepens their sense of commitment to their own growth. If you have questions about payment or packages, feel free to reach out.
How do I know somatic coaching is for me?
Somatic coaching might be a beautiful fit for you if:
You feel stuck in old patterns, even after talk therapy or self-work.
You want to build a deeper trust in your body and intuition.
You're longing to feel safer, more alive, and more connected to yourself.
You are ready to explore healing through sensation, breath, movement, and presence—not just through talking.
You are drawn to a supportive, body-centered approach that honors your timing and wisdom.
If you're curious but unsure, I offer a free consultation where we can explore whether this path feels right for you.
How often should we meet?
Most clients find that meeting weekly or biweekly creates the consistency needed for meaningful change. Regular sessions help you build momentum, deepen your connection to your body, and integrate new ways of being into your daily life.
That said, I honor that each journey is unique. We'll collaborate to find a rhythm that supports your needs, goals, and capacity. Healing isn’t a race, it’s a path we walk together at a pace that feels nourishing and sustainable for you.
What happens in a somatic coaching session?
Sessions are guided by your needs and your body’s cues. We might explore breath, movement, sensation, and imagery alongside conversation. The goal is to build more awareness, capacity, and safety in your body — not to fix, push, or analyze, but to gently support you in becoming more attuned to yourself.
What do I need to prepare before we begin?
You don’t need to have anything figured out. Just bring your willingness to show up as you are. After you book a consultation, I’ll share a few intake questions to get to know you and your intentions. We'll move at a pace that feels safe and honoring of your story and nervous system.
Do you offer virtual sessions?
Yes, sessions take place online over Zoom, allowing you to settle into a familiar and comfortable space. I recommend having privacy, a stable internet connection, and any comforts you may need nearby — like tea, a blanket, or a journal. If you are located in New Orleans, Louisiana, I would love to meet you in person for sessions!
Can I combine coaching with Reiki or ritual work?
Yes. If you feel drawn to weaving in Reiki or ritual (like grief tending), we can integrate those practices into our time together or set up dedicated sessions. It’s all about what feels most supportive to your journey.
